COAL TOWNSHIP - The 2012 participants of the Shamokin Area Relay For Life at Kemp Memorial Stadium should get ready for a hairy situation Friday as a last-minute Wigs for Kids hair donation will take place during the 24-hour event.
Organized and sponsored by Owens Dentistry, Shamokin, and Tammy Tweed of the Difference Salon, Kulpmont, the hair cutting will take place from 2 until 9 p.m. Friday during the Relay.
The first donor will be Dr. J.C. Owens, who has been growing his straight, brown hair for two years and will have 12 inches of it cut off by Tweed.
"This organization donates to kids who are bald because of cancer and other disorders. They also make a natural hair wig as opposed to a synthetic wig. It gives more of a natural appearance," Owens said.
